Twenty-three years after I bought my Bullet there, I returned to Chennai, INDIA to take part in the celebrations during the launch of the new Royal Enfield Bullet 350.
There were factory visits, presentations, a pop-up museum and demonstrations of the painting of famous gold stripes on the fuel tank. Gordon May, Royal Enfield's brand historian, informed and entertained us with the history of the overwhelmingly popular Bullet from its inception in 1932 to the present day. We saw new Bullets rolling off the production line and I was very fortunate indeed to be able to ride one. Actually, I had a five-day test ride all over Tamil Nadu!

To celebrate the 120th anniversary of the Royal Enfield motorcycle company, Superior Motorcycle Experiences have created a 120-mile rally that will pass through three counties. I'll be tootling along some of the finest motorcycling roads and scenery of the South West. The organisers are accepting 120 riders in each of two categories for the run... one for Himalayans and one for all other Enfields. It starts at the Sammy Miller Motorcycle Museum at 9.30am.
For details see Ride 120 on Facebook On Friday 25th June, I'll be having a chat here at the campfire with long-term motorcycle traveller Simon Thomas. My Enfield will be there, too (but not too close to the flames!)
I'm thrilled to have been invited to attend this event to celebrate women in motorcycling. Over the years I've seen things improving for women on bikes and can't wait to see what's new. There's lots for experienced riders and also for those who may be thinking about learning and need inspiration. This looks like the event for one and all. And the location looks stunning.
womenmoto.co.uk/ Not only is this show on my doorstep, it is one of my favourites. Absolutely free to attend, the event is a joyous celebration of all things motorbike, to raise funds for CHILDREN'S HOSPICE SOUTH WEST. There'll be a lively atmosphere at the Ring O'Bells pub amidst displays of classic, custom, sports and touring motorcycles and great live music. Preparations for the 11th Nailsea Bike Show are underway and with fingers firmly crossed, the 11th/12th September is in my diary.
You can tell how much fun it is from the photo below taken a couple of years ago! Read the full article here.
